Everyone wants peace but God is the only One who can give us true peace. We’ve all heard the story of the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet with oil which ends when He says,
“Your faith has saved you, go in peace.”
First, when He says, “Go In Peace,” what do you think He means? Do you think He means to go argue with your spouse? Does He mean to yell at the person who cut you off in traffic(as if they can hear you)? Are we going in peace when we are gossiping about the way some random person’s hair looks? Are we walking in peace when we allow “Raphael” or “Johnnie” to treat us in ways that if some boy treated our daughters this way, we’d get upset? Are we “going in peace” when we are comparing our lives to others or when we long for what God has not deemed us ready? Are we “going in peace” when…..well you get the point.
Now, as we go through our day lets constantly think about our Lord’s statement, “Go In Peace.” Today, let’s operate in peace. Let’s ask God to provide us with peace that only He can give and not only that. Let us be receptive to His kind of peace and not our normal everyday actions. Lets operate in a way that pleases the Lord and if we operate in His peace, I believe that’s how we, ourselves, will indeed “Go in Peace.”
