Everyone has those songs that they have listened to a million times. Most people even have playlists for specific periods in their lives. I won’t say everyone but alot of people have heard of Hillsong and if so you’ve definitely heard of their hit song “Desert Song.” I’ve heard and sang along with these lyrics a countless number of times but this time, the very last line stuck out as if God had wrote it on a piece of paper, balled it up and threw it at me.
“I know I’m filled to be emptied again, the seed I’ve received I will sow.”
I then ask God to reveal to me what it was that I haven’t planted. I know that I am currently asking and praying for different things in my life when maybe I should see other things come into fruition before advancing to something new. Are there things that you know that only the Lord would have put on your heart or talents that you have discovered that you didn’t know you had that you aren’t doing anything with? I also posed the question to myself that “If you haven’t done anything with the seeds God has given you, why would He give you more to do nothing with?”
I then began to think of the parable in Matthew 25:14-30 where the man entrusted his servants to invest according to their talents and the servant whom had the lesser talents did not do anything with the man’s money. He went and buried it so that it would be safe. In fact, the man took it from him and gave it to another servant which would actually plant a seed with what was given to him. What if God has given us talents that we never use? Why would God put things on our hearts, if it were not to be used for His glory?
In Proverbs 31:31, the first half of the verse reads “Give her of the fruit of her hands…” -KJV, “Reward her for all she has done.” -NLT and “Give her the reward of her labor…” -HCSB. This means that she definitely was sowing some seeds. There was labor that had to be done in order for her to receive her reward. It seems that she in particular had been sowing a lot of seeds as much as she accomplishes but maybe all God wants us to sow at this time is just 1. Just ONE seed. What if that servant had sowed juuuust a little? Maybe his master wouldn’t have called him wicked and slothful and given his opportunity to someone else to do something with. The Lord will ALWAYS provide us with what we need but what if He didn’t give us so much of what we wanted because there was no labor to reward?
Today , I challenge you as I challenged myself to sow a seed. Is there something He has put on your heart that for whatever reason, you have not entertained? You may not see the complete picture right now but I encourage you to let Him be the lamp before your feet. Be a vessel for the Gospel. He will never steer you wrong.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
