Good Afternoon Friends!
As I’m reading Luke 4 where Jesus is in the wilderness for 40 days, He is tempted by evil day after day. It caught my attention in verse 9 when at the highest point of the temple in Jerusalem, the devil says “If you are the Son of God, jump off (v. 10). For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you (v. 11) And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.”
As I read these few verses a few more times, I asked myself “How does the devil know Scripture?” “Does he really know it or did he just say something that sounded good?” So I went searching for “the where.” WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES THIS VERSE(S) EXIST & to my surprise, it came from Psalm 91:11-12. For The Word says:
11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
After my findings, I take out the stylus on my phone to take a note or two and without thinking, my hand begins to write. “Just because someone can quote Scripture, doesn’t mean that they operate under the authority of God. Just because he or she claims to be a believer, doesn’t mean that they are a follower and lives their lives to please the Lord. Just because he/she goes to church every Sunday doesn’t mean that within the depths of their heart, they serve the Almighty God with every fiber of their being.”
As we have read, we now know that clearly, the Devil knows what is spoken in the Word. Please pray for discernment to spot those allowing the devil to use their mouths to do the devils work by quoting Scripture for their own personal gain versus to advance the Kingdom of God.
